With the ever increasing popularity of the more famous trekking destinations such as Everest and Annapurna leading to severe overcrowding in the trekking seasons the less well-known valleys such as Langtang provide a more authentic and intimate Himalayan trekking experience.
This Iconic 11-day journey begins in Kathmandu exploring the city before embarking on a moderately challenging 7 day trek in the Langtang Valley. If you're a Himalayan first timer this is the perfect introduction to trekking in Nepal.
The Langtang Valley lies within the Langtang and Ganesh Himal mountain ranges. The people that live here are largely ethnically Tamang and Tibetan, with a culture that dates back hundreds of years. The region has rapidly recovered from the 2015 earthquake and the strength and resilience of the local people is clearly evident in the rebuilt communities. Their rich Himalayan heritage is reflected in their craftsmanship, dress, traditionally built stone houses, and beautifully carved wooden porches.
Visits to the area, which is partially protected as Langtang National Park, provide Himalayan nature experiences as well as an insight into the lifestyle and culture of the traditional inhabitants. They mostly raise sheep and yaks, but they also grow a variety of hardy cereals and vegetables. Raising cattle, agriculture, and trade across the border with Tibet are all part of the locals' daily existence. Their major foods are wheat, maize, potato, soyabean, and millet.
The Langtang region was severely impacted by the 2015 Nepal Earthquake. Trekking to this region brings much needed income to local families.
To undertake this walking journey, you need to be moderately fit with good stamina and we recommend that you bring a sense of adventure and curiosity.

Discover Kathmandu
In the morning, we will embark on an educational exploration of Kathmandu, led by a knowledgeable local cultural guide. Our first stop is the iconic Swayambhunath, affectionately known as the Monkey Temple, which dates back to a period between 460 and 1,200AD. This establishment of this sacred Stupa is hugely significant in the creation of the Kathmandu Valley, serving as one of Nepal’s most revered Buddhist sites. The panoramic views of the valley from its elevated hilltop position are magnificent. Continuing on our cultural journey, we head to Kathmandu Durbar Square, a UNESCO World Heritage Site renowned for its architectural marvels and cultural heritage. The historic square is one of three within the Kathmandu valley and is an important site for Buddhist and Hindu rituals, holy ceremonies, royal events and coronations. After a delicious lunch, you have the option to unwind or explore the vibrant tourist district of Thamel for any last-minute essentials. Later in the afternoon you will be supplied with your trek pack so that you can prepare for the exciting journey ahead, scheduled for departure the next day.

Today marks the beginning of our Trek, commencing from Syabrubesi. We start our trip with an exciting walk across a suspension bridge to the southern bank of the river, where the path will lead us through the Langtang Khola valley. Surrounded by verdant bamboo forests, our trail will lead us to the enchanting Doban – at an elevation of 1,590 metres – where a magnificent waterfall awaits. Traversing an old landslide near some tea houses, we will continue winding upstream along a broad, well-trodden path through the tranquil forest, where playful Langur monkeys often adorn the tree canopies above. We stop at a place called Bamboo and rest by the tranquil riverbanks to rejuvenate with a well-deserved lunch. Welcome to the awe-inspiring Langtang National Park, where today we will embark on a shorter trek, tailored to accommodate our acclimatization needs. Departing from Ghore Tabela, we commence a more leisurely journey following the sweeping alpine valley, through yak pastures and past Buddhist mani stones, with the majestic mountain vistas offering a serene backdrop. Along the way, just before the entrance to Langtang village, there is a charming monastery which is well worth the visit. With the afternoon at your leisure, you can relax, explore the village and enjoy the scenery.

Rest and exploration
Today, we dedicate a full day to exploring in and around Kyanjin. You are free to choose your own activities for the day. You may prefer to take a leisurely stroll up the valley or simply unwind. However, if you are feeling fit and well-adjusted to the altitude, we recommend you ascend Kyanjin Ri (4,773m), about two hours hike from the lodge, offering spectacular views across the valley from the summit. To the south, the magnificent peak of Naya Kanga (5,846m) dominates the horizon, while to the east, the towering shapes of Doreje Lhakpa (6,996m) and Langshisha Ri (6,310m) grace the impressive backdrop, making the steep ascent well worthwhile. After returning for lunch at the lodge, the rest of the afternoon is yours to relax and savour the Himalayan experience.
